Technology and Safety

Sinomatech is building a surface treatment facility that carries out operations similar to those used in the plastics industry. The company will utilize industry-leading separator film coating technology. An energy storage separator film is an ultra-thin layer that safely separates the two electrodes of an energy storage device while allowing lithium ions to flow between them. This helps prevent short circuits and contributes to the safe and efficient operation of the battery.

The base films are not manufactured in Hungary; they will be imported from China. Only the coating process will take place in Nyíregyháza. The modern water-based technology does not generate the untreated waste gas emissions typically associated with solvent-based technologies; all gas emissions are filtered through a multi-stage activated carbon treatment system.

The process is fully automated and energy-efficient. Similar coating technologies are already operating safely in several European facilities under strict environmental and occupational safety regulations.

The technology operates in a closed system and therefore does not cause odor nuisance or air pollution. The quantity of hazardous substances used is limited, and their storage and handling are carried out in full compliance with the Seveso Directive and the European Union’s CLP Regulation.

Process wastewater generated by the production activities is treated in a closed on-site treatment system and is discharged only after it meets all applicable regulatory requirements. The amount of hazardous waste generated is extremely low, and its handling and disposal are carried out exclusively by licensed waste management companies.

The investment is being developed on a brownfield site in the Southern Industrial Park, approximately 1 kilometer from the nearest residential area. The facility is designed and operated in accordance with Best Available Techniques (BAT) requirements. Noise levels are mitigated by protective barriers, while continuous environmental monitoring—supported by independent third-party verification where necessary—ensures transparency. Sinomatech will operate the facility in full compliance with Hungarian regulations and in accordance with certified management systems.
